The objective of this club shall be to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to aid in the protection of native plants, trees, and birds, and to encourage home gardening, civic planting and to work for the preservation of Bowling Green and Warren County’s beauty.

The Bowling Green Garden Club was organized in 1934, federated in 1935 and now has over 40 active members. Each month’s meeting includes a timely program of interest along with the official meeting. Special monthly meetings may include a tour of a member’s or other local garden to encourage gardening enthusiasm and education.

The year begins with the September meeting. In November, club members decorate a Christmas tree at the Eloise B. Houchens Center, an historic house in Bowling Green. The December meeting is generally the Christmas Auction at a special festive location where guests are included.  The Club participates in Golden Days by delivering daffodils to members, family and friends who are shut-ins or are ill during March. This May we will have a special end-of-the-year meeting.  In June, we will celebrate National Garden Week with a Fairy Garden Tour.

The Club donates regularly to the Cardinal Council’s H.A.N.D.S. program which plants memorial trees in Bowling Green, and maintains the Blue Star Memorial Marker on Adams Street.  This year our projects will include supporting the landscaping of the Monarch Waystation, the Blue Star Marker and other activities.  The Christmas auction, the Fairy Garden Tour and other small fundraisers such as plant sales allow the Club to support these important projects.

Annual dues are $20 and guests are always welcome. Please contact us at BGGardenClub@gmail.com for further information.

The Bowling Green Garden Club is a member of the Cardinal Council of Kentucky Garden Clubs with more information at web page:  www.cardinalcouncilgc.org
