Garden Clubs for Noble Park
Audubon District
The Garden Clubs of Noble Park advise the Parks Department on planting, maintenance and design, in addition to actively maintain several planting areas. The objectives for 2013-14 are: Plant replacements for hardwood trees lost and/or damaged in the 2009 Ice Storm; and re-establish the Children’s Memorial Garden that was completely destroyed in that storm. Nineteen different varieties of dogwoods are the focus of the garden that was planted in 1996 in honor of the 19 children killed in the Oklahoma City bombing, and all children who have tragically died. Included in Paducah’s April 19, Arbor Day Celebration at the park will be re-dedication of the garden and tree and perennial planting by children.
