Kentucky Heritage Council Announces Final Round of America250KY Preservation Grants

Projects across Kentucky receive critical preservation funding ahead of America’s 250th anniversary

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 13, 2026) – The Kentucky Heritage Council (KHC) is proud to announce the second

and final round of America250KY Sub-Grant Awards supporting the preservation of historic sites in Kentucky in

honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

These grants are part of a larger statewide initiative administered by the Kentucky Historical Society to ensure

that Kentucky’s rich and diverse heritage is recognized and preserved for future generations.

“Our heritage is rooted in real places – brick, mortar, timber and stone,” said KHC Executive Director Craig

Potts. “These grants focus on the essential preservation work that keeps historic structures sound, like

stabilization, roof repair, masonry restoration and protecting buildings from future damage. This is the

groundwork that allows history to endure.”

This second round provides $500,000 in funding to projects representing Kentucky’s broad patterns of history

and cultural development across the state.
