The summer has flown by, and we are headed into fall. June was jam packed with activities all over the state! National Garden Week had clubs scurrying to hold special events calling attention to gardening activities. Some of the activities I attended included Bowling Green Garden Club’s annual Fairy Garden Tour featuring eight gardens looking for the fairies hidden in the landscaping.

Glasgow Garden Club celebrated their 90th anniversary on June 8th with a lovely tea and displays sharing their activities and many accomplishments. Danville Garden Club sponsored their Garden Tour featuring eight unique gardens. My brother-in-law and sister’s garden was on the tour, so my husband and I pitched in on Friday to prepare, then we enjoyed helping host on Saturday.

The historic Botherum Tour was held on June 17th and 18th in Lexington. We were delighted to pre-sell 673 tickets on Eventbrite. We are indebted to Jon Carloftis for his many hours of preparation and patience to host this fundraiser with all the proceeds going to The Garden Club of Kentucky, Inc.

“Your Neighborhood Garden Tour” hosted by Boone County Garden Club had perfect weather and I appreciated the different styles and varied plants featured.

Be sure to check our Events page for the details about district meetings, the work day at the Wallis House & Arboretum, the Youth Sculpture Contest, GCKY Awards Applications, the National Garden Club Youth Poetry Contest, and the SAR Youth Essay Contest.
